SkinMedica Chemical Peels
Chemical peeling is a procedure that aims to accelerate skin exfoliation by the use of chemical substances resulting in renewed, healthier-looking skin and more uniform complexion.
SkinMedica® Peels address the visible skin imperfections that result from skin aging and sun exposure, such as fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone and texture. Peels also address skin tone unevenness that can be caused by acne scarring or pigmentary changes. SkinMedica® offers a range of different strength chemical peels that licensed medical professionals can select to provide the optimum treatment for their patients.
During the initial consultation, your skincare professional will evaluate your skin condition and recommend the appropriate peel regimen based on your needs.
Vitalize Peel® is appropriate for patients with mild-to-moderate skin imperfections that result from skin aging and sun exposure, such as fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone and texture. Vitalize Peel® treatments also address skin unevenness that can be caused by acne scarring or other pigmentary changes.
Vitalize Peel® is appropriate for all skin types.
Any procedures and products that may increase skin sensitivity should be avoided before your Vitalize Peel® treatment. Ask your physician or skin care specialist for details.
The complete treatment is expected to take 45 minutes, which includes ample time to address any questions you may have, and a discussion on your post-peel care. The actual application procedure is approximately 20 minutes. Tolerance to the procedure varies from patient to patient. Tingling or burning sensations are normal and expected reactions. A handheld fan can be used during the procedure to minimize discomfort, which usually subsides in a few minutes.
Vitalize Peel® can leave a yellowish tinge on the skin which is expected to last no longer than 2-3 hours. Mild to moderate redness is expected after any type of chemical peel procedure. The extent of redness varies from patient to patient. The face may appear redder than usual for some time after the treatment and completely resolves after the peeling is complete.
Since the new skin is more susceptible to sunburn, extra precautions should be taken to limit sun exposure for at least one week after the peel. It is imperative to use a broad spectrum sunscreen product with an SPF of 30 or higher.
You can resume the use of your regular treatment products after you have completely finished peeling.
After the Vitalize Peel®, patients will notice an improvement in the appearance of overall skin condition, diminishment in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, smoothness of skin texture, more even skin color, and improved skin clarity.
Vitalize Peel® treatments can be repeated every 3-4 weeks.
Multiple treatments may be required to achieve desired results. The number of treatments is based on initial level of skin damage, and can vary from 3 to 6. The effect of the peel is cumulative.
SkinTyte Laser
The SkinTyte treatment is based on the principle of selective thermolysis and utilizes pulsed light technology to deeply heat your skin while cooling and protecting the entire treated surface. SkinTyte can be provided quickly and comfortably with no downtime. The end result is a more youthful appearance.
The SkinTyte procedure utilizes infrared energy to deeply heat dermal collagen. This process promotes partial denaturation and contraction of collagen. The heat also initiates the body’s natural healing process, which creates a renewed collagen foundation leading to increased skin firmness. Powerful cooling maintains the outer surface of your skin at a cool temperature before, during, and after each pulse providing the patient a comfortable and safe procedure.
The SkinTyte light energy is delivered in a sequence of rapid, gentle pulses. There is no need for a topical anesthetic. A series of pulses will be repeated over the treatment area to ensure the best results. While the face and neck can typically be treated within 30 minutes, the actual time will depend on the area treated.
You may experience some mild redness in the treated area immediately after treatment and this should return to normal within minutes. Since the SkinTyte procedure is noninvasive there is no downtime so you can resume regular activities immediately following treatment. You can also apply makeup and sunscreen after each session.
SkinTyte procedure results may vary from patient to patient. The SkinTyte procedure is recommended for patients who desire moderate, noticeable skin improvement without having to undergo surgery. Full results often take up to four months as the collagen foundation of your skin is rebuilt and strengthened.
The number of treatments needed will vary from patient to patient and we can personalize a treatment plan based on the level of improvement you desire.
No special skin care regimen is required following treatment. However, you should always protect your
skin from direct sun exposure and use a good sunscreen.
SkinTyte – utilizes advanced infrared light technology, and patient-tailored filters to deeply heat dermal collagen while continuously protecting the treated epidermis with sapphire contact cooling for optical clinical endpoints, safety, and comfort. With no need for a topical anesthetic, the energy is delivered in rapid, gentle pulses to promote contraction and partial coagulation of the collagen, initiating the body’s natural healing process, leading to increased tissue firming.
Safe and optimized for all skin types, SkinTyte can predictably, effectively, and comfortably treat any area of the body where improvement is desired, giving patients a firmer, and more youthful appearance.
CoolSculpting
Some common side effects include a tugging sensation at the affected area, light pain, a tingling feeling, or aches. You may also experience some redness, swelling, bruising, or skin sensitivity – but all of these side effects are temporary and should go away after a few days (at most a few weeks).
Generally, CoolSculpting is considered to be safe for most people and body types. However, there are some conditions that should be taken into consideration. Always talk to your doctor before beginning any kind of fat reduction treatment.
Yes – that’s an added bonus experienced by many patients. CoolSculpting can significantly reduce skin laxity (looseness) and can potentially increase the skin’s thickness, which improves the appearance of thin, folding skin.
During the actual procedure, the patient may feel some pain. The cold temperatures cause numbness, but you may also feel slight pinching and pulling sensations before this sets in (for about five to ten minutes).
Some areas are more sensitive than others. The abdomen is typically the most painful to treat, but all areas may experience some itching and swelling.
Although the average CoolSculpting procedure costs between $2,000 and $4,000, the actual cost per patient may vary based on:
- The kind of area being treated.
- The size of the targeted area.
- Where they live.
- Their provider/dermatologist.
- The number of necessary treatments and follow-up appointments.
It’s important to remember that “weight” and “fat” are two different things. CoolSculpting targets fatty bulges, but it doesn’t substitute as an overall weight-loss program. Your weight will likely not increase or decrease. However, your appearance will change as your skin tightens and you achieve a leaner, more toned look.
In short, the answer is no. Because CoolSculpting is an “aesthetic” or cosmetic procedure, it is rarely ever covered by insurance. Still, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t ask. Inquire to find out if your insurance company offers any discounts, payment plans, or other benefits for fat reduction procedures.
Although every CoolSculpting appointment is slightly different, the entire treatment usually takes less than an hour. Some small treatments can be completed in as little as forty-five minutes! At Skintastic because we have TWO CoolSculpting machines, we perform DUAL CoolSculpting which cuts your treatment time in half making it fast, easy and effective!
This depends on the size of the area you want to have treated, as well as the number of spots you plan to target. Smaller areas, such as your chin will likely need just one cycle. Larger areas with more spots to target, such as your abdomen, may require three or more cycles.
You typically won’t see the full results of CoolSculpting right away. It takes between two and three months to truly see the difference. Immediately after the treatment, you may experience some inflammation and swelling, but when that subsides after a week or two, you’ll begin to notice the treatment’s results.
